	Story Behind the Song Moved a little out of town and got sick of the attitude from the people in the neighborhood because we looked like we did, and didn't work for the phone company. The song was written for the woman with the attitude at the corner store. If we're the bad guys why does she sell cigarettes and lottery tickets for a living? Lyrics Will it be suicide to wipe away these toys that we've made? They're Made in The USA. Your bottom line hangs over my head, your strong portfolio's built on our weaponry and it's a sword of Damacles. How many missles must fly overhead? When did we all become merchants of death? The woman at the corner store takes one long drag on one long cigarette. Who did the surgeon general forget? There's a small boy growing up overseas who only knows what he looks up and sees: the sword of Damacles. How many millions more will draw their last breath? When did we all become merchants of death? The cold war is finally over so where's happiness? And now with "defense conversion" I wonder what we'll sell next.
