Story Behind the Song
On September 11, 2001, I sat like most Americans in shock watching developments in New York, Washington, DC, Pennsylvania, and around the world. An unpublished songwriter, I wrote a song that day and was driven to produce and release in 48 hours. A true basement production, I sent the song to several regional and national media outlets beginning September 14.
One Now is a rally song that recognizes that hate touches us all. With this event, we are more than ever defiant in our unity. We make a -pact- with the victims of 9/11 by declaring - heaven knows were one.
Powerful and moving music has already been and will continue to be generated by icons of our music industry. I maintain, that in this deeply penetrating world event, expressions like One Now coming from nowhere, from outside the music industry machinery, from Americas heartland, are equally powerful and important. In effect, by coming from nowhere, they come from everywhere. By day, I am a new media executive and a patriot from our rocky mountains.
Lyrics
On a Tuesday morning with a rising sun
Seven thousand souls rose on 9-11
Hate touches us all, cant be understood
The deeper the hate, the stronger the will of the good
We are one now, we are all as one
The world is one now, we are all as one
We are one now, heaven knows were one
The stars rose with darkness
our moon was lost that night
But each new star flashed one million points of light
We are one now, we are all as one
The world is one now, we are all as one
We are one now, we are all as one
The world united, we are all as one
From Libertys harbor, we are all as one
We are one now, heaven knows were one
