A tribute to Matthew Shepard...a gay student that was killed in a brutal hate crime in Laramie, Wo. Magdalen had a chance to tour through Laramie and was amazed at how warm and embracing the community was to her. Out of gratitude she wrote this song as a reminder to the lovely folks in Laramie (and to all of us) to keep our hearts open and to have faith in the goodness of people. This folky yet driving song features a soaring vocals and a smashing slide guitar ending that evokes the wide open prarie spaces of Wyoming.

    LARAMIE

Matthew I just have to speak on your behalf
To say the words you can't say to those who loved you best
Don't give up.don't fill your hearts with hate
Don't regret anything before it is too late
    It takes an open mind
And a second sight to see
    The other side of.Laramie

I don't think you could know
    The kindness I received
They took me in as their own
    The folks from Laramie
    But for one dark night
    A shadow stole the sun
    And put out a light
    Before it had begun
Then never did they hear such a cry
From the prairie to the Fireside of Laramie

I am so glad to have met you
    And shared this precious time
Don't forget that I love you
I know that you'll be fine
Don't give up.don't fill your hearts with hate
Don't regret anything before it is too late
Don't forget to open your mind
And use your second sight to see
    The other side of.Laramie
