Creepy song about being haunted by Jim Varney. He's stuck in limbo because he still thinks he's Ernest and he thinks I'm Vern.ö |

Story Behind the Song
Kevin and Bean, the wacky morning DJs of LA radio station, KROQ, put out a call this year for some new Halloween songs from any artist. I, of course, had to participate so I wrote this here little ditty. Not sure how the idea came about, but it's a fun song. Hopefully it actually gets some airtime. That would be pretty cool for a loser artist like me.ó
Lyrics
I am haunted by the ghost of Jim Varney
He appears in my room every night
He thinks I’m Vern and won’t stop talking to me
I just want to get some sleep, why won’t he get out of sight
He tells me about the time he went to camp
And all about the Auto Square in Cerritos
Goes on and on about saving Christmas
And the other twenty movies that went straight to video
I am haunted by the ghost of Jim Varney
He keeps me up all hours of the night
He thinks he’s still Ernest and won’t shut the hell up
He keeps trying to sell me Sprite
I wish he’d go away, I can’t take it anymore
His rubbery face really gives me the creeps
I don’t know why he chose to haunt me
Maybe it’s because I watched his TV show one week
I'm telling you for the last time, I'm not Vern.
Your name's not even Ernest
It's Jim Varney, you're an actor
You have to understand that
I was haunted by the ghost of Jim Varney
He appeared in my room every night
He thought I was Vern and wouldn’t stop talking to me
But now I can sleep because he finally saw the light
