Story Behind the Song
The second year (2000) that we (Willow, Sebastian and I) were driving to Four Quarters Farm in PA, we stopped at a rest stop on I-81 in the mountains of Virginia. I decided to go for a little walk around, while cooling off the engine, and I happened upon a little creek, winding its way through the rest stop, from north to south. I got to thinking about how such a small, innocuous stream would one day empty into one of America's great rivers, and help to sustain life all along the Eastern seaboard. It was in this half meditative state, that this song poured out of me. During the rest of our vacation, I finalized lyrics, and promptly recorded it, when we got home. Willow's watery tones highlight this bossanova influenced track.

Remember Me-

Remember Me...
Carved out by the gentle rains,
I made my way through hellebores,
And fed the willows to their fill.
Remember Me...
Winding through the valley blue,
I saw the mighty sycamore
As she shed her heavy wings
Time is all I have to leave
And a story of the places I have been
Flowing in my course, breathing love and life to evermore
Promise you'll be there when I am gone.
Remember Me...
Bathed in beauty as you bathed in me
Gained fervor 'neath the summer rain
But not to wind this path again.
Remember me...
Flowing through the Earth to see
The woodland's wildlife drinks of me
As I surge my way into the sea.
Time is......
I can't say how many lives I've touched while flowing- surging, flowing- surging
There are so many things I have been.
I've been dashed upon the rocks while flowing- surging, flowing- surging
And I have wiped them smooth and clean
Power is my name- I am unstoppable
My shores are not the same when I must leave
My body fills with rain, I am invincible
But I am nothing to my mother sea...
My how I have grown, whole cities I have owned...
Sometimes it seems you'd live or die by me.
I am part of a whole, and my banks tell stories old...
How this woman- river charmed all history.
Call me by whatever name,
Whatever branch you choose
Ride me on your way to where you'll be
Respect me as I make my way
Into the mighty sea someday
But never you forget...
...To remember me.
