Story Behind the Song
Everyday was written in 1996 while I attended Texas A&M University. Its a song about longing to do the right thing when every part of you wants to do the opposite. Its been an inspiration to me, and I was lucky enough to meet a gentleman named Brent Horan who penned the lyrics to the song. It was obviously a great collaboration, because although this was the first song I ever helped to write, its still my most requested.
Lyrics
Lately I've been running 'round a simple cure cannot be found for what ails me.
Like a chicken thats lost his head
unsure if Im alive or dead, Im half crazy
Lost in the liberty Ive been reborn into
clinging to chains that have been broken.
And everyday I pray Ill be everything you would want of me 'cuz everyday it grows harder to walk on the water that you stand on out there calling me.
And everytime I think I know, just where you'
re calling me to go, Im finding life is best when my knowledge is less than my faith And Im learning to trust you more...everyday.
In this race of life Im running last, the pace you set was just not fast enough for me. Yes I find it hard to wait my turn I've had to drop my pride and learn humility.
From somewhere inside me, you're longing to guide me, so why do I still walk this path in darkness?
You came to my heart long ago now somewhere out there Lord I know You're still alive. But its like I've been kidnapped without ransom, no more music I'm still dancing through the night.
I pray that I have not lost and long since forgot everything that brought me to the place I am.-
