	Story Behind the Song I wrote this within about fifteen minutes when I was a student at Berklee. I had the riff to base the entire song around, and then simply wrote some lyrics around my proposed title, "I'm Gonna Batter Your Heart," which was a variation on a song I wrote a few months earlier, "You Battered My Heart." "I'm Gonna Batter Your Heart" was inspired by 1960's garage punk. "Are You A Boy Or Are You A Girl" by the Barbarians, "Steppin' Out" by Paul Revere and the Raiders, and "Mr. Pharmacist" by The Other Half.
