Song that was written with my wife in mind.
CD: Finally!   Label: Not Yet Realeased
Credits: My wife Dina, my son Michael, and all those that helped me learn Digital Audio.

    Story Behind the Song
This is a song about how my wife would come hear me play all the time. One night after playing much later than we were suppose to, as I was picking up my equipment I looked up and saw my wife, Dina. She looked very tired. She had worked all that day and still came out to see me play. Then she looked my way and when she saw I was looking at her she smiled.

There were times when I came home from work, and I had to go practice. When I walked in the door, Dina just grabbed me, hugged me real hard and wanted me to stay home that night. Well, I had to go to practice. And I left her there crying.

Why I put someone that loves me so much through what I do is beyond me. I tried to give it up. But I can't rest. Not unless I play.

This version of the song is my final one. I am just moving on. There are some things to correct on it I feel, production wise, but I am just letting it go. I hope you can enjoy it.

    Lyrics
Ode To A Bar Band’s Wife
    (That’s Why I PLay)

It's quarter to four in the morning
There’s sweat, dripping off my brow.
    The crowd was good tonight
But it’s time to pick it up for now.

    I look around and wonder
What am I doing this for.
Then my heart starts to pound
    I remembered the roar.

I look over to you and I can see that your really tired.

When our eyes met, your face lit up. And you just smiled.

The sun has been up for an hour
    And we’re just rolling in.
The felling I get when I play my songs
Make me want to do it again.

    That's Why I Play.

I had a hard time at work
And you waited for me all day.
We hugged and we kissed for a while
Then you tell me you wish
    That I would stay.

But you know that I will leave you. I have to practice for my next gig.

It's happened over and over and the jobs we get they’re not that big.

I just feel I have to be my best
And it hurt's to see you cry.
    I don't understand why I leave you
    It's just something inside.

Ode To A Bar Bands Wife
    (Con’t)

    That's why I play.

I've been through a lot in my life
And I’ve always had this one dream.
Of seeing my self beating all these odds
    That's stopping me.

And I could never do this
Without your support and your love.
And the more I think of it girl
Your surely a gift from above.

Cause you were there cheering me on when others laugh,
    Walked out on me.

I will never forget you Dina your everything that I need.

And I will keep on playing my music
It's something that I must do.
But every song that I sing
I will be singing it just for you.

    That's why I play.
