Story Behind the Song
Julie was in McDonald's talking to her boss while I was out in the van with the children and I just started rattling off this tune to keep the kids amused and Julie came out and was amused too, so she encouraged and helped me write the rest of the song.
Lyrics
I got a job at Mickey-D’s
Cleanin’ lobby on my hands and knees
I got a notion, that I’ll get a promotion
I’ll be droppin’ fries and serving apple pies
Workin’ at Mickey-D’s, workin’ at Mickey-D’s
I’m in front booth with the headset on,
But I think I should have went to the John.
Now I’m trapped, ‘cause the drive-thru is wrapped
In two more hours I’ll get my 10, but I don’t know If I’ll make it ‘til then
Workin’ at Mickey-D’s, Oh yeah, I’m workin’ at Mickey-D’s
Sometimes people can be so rude,
I can’t believe I’m serving this dude
Although his words just stung, I’ll have to bite my tongue,
I smile and say “why don’t you have a nice day!”
Workin’ at Mickey-D’s, workin’ at Mickey-D’s
After all has been said and done,
It’s been real and it’s been fun
It isn’t easy, sometimes it’s been cheesy
Right now I’m poor, someday I’ll manage a store
Workin’ at Mickey-D’s, workin’ at Mickey-D’s
Workin’ at Mickey-D’s, Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah workin’ at Mickey-D’s
