Story Behind the Song
Without hope, there is no life. The piano declares the "Descent into Despair" in which all things atrophy and from which prayer, hope, and the strength to move on are the only thing which save us. "We are delivered"
The piano rhythmics simulate the learning of a part by the student, urged by his/her teacher to never give up -- and the persistence is rewarded again with deliverance.
I lost everything I had used for strength on January 18, 2001 and was forced to rebuild my identity from nothing but my own dwindling strength. When I had done this, however, I came back into music, which rests upon me, not visa versa. This is the second composition of any note in my life and I hope that it will mean as much to others as it does to me.
Lyrics
"Hope is the dream, that keeps us alive.
And now, without that dream, all will despair"
Time is running through your hands,
The end is suddenly near.
The long lost babe returns at last,
Her spirit broken inside.
The candle dies, and darkness falls,
The course of life is now set.
Turn your eyes or dare to fight,
Reveal the light with streaming tears.
Cling to hope with all your heart,
Leave the darkness behind.
The calloused world comes crashing down,
There's no returning from here.
If hope is all you have to cling to,
Why do you stand back and watch:
The fall of the soul.
And now from your accomplished soul,
You find the truth you desired.
You dared to dream and so you fought,
To make the vision come true.
You calmly watch as others try,
To find the truth for themselves.
So hide the smile you cannot hold,
Push them on and let them see.
