Story Behind the Song
Originally written for an upcoming rock musical film "Orpheus", inspired by that legend. After recording the band at Pacifica, Mark conducted a live 16-piece string section playing his arrangement in an empty film soundstage.
Lyrics
Don't Look Back
When you hear me walk away,
Don't look back, don't look back
When there's no words left to say
Don't look back, don't look back
Now my life with you is through
There's so much more I meant to do
But there's still time left for you
Don't look back, Don't look back
Don't look back.
When your days turn dark and cold
Don't look back, don't look back
When your dreams have all been sold
Don't look back, don't look back
It's a monumental task
To search for love that's meant to last
But you won't find it in the past
Don't look back, don't look back
Don't look back.
I know sometimes it seems
You're doomed to fail before you start
I know you'll find a way
For I have seen the precious gifts
You hide inside your heart.
When the world is full of pain
Don't look back, don't look back
When greed and suffering still reign
Don't look back, don't look back
A new century is here
Though it may take a hundred years
Someday hate will disappear
Don't look back, don't look back
Don't look back.
