    Story Behind the Song
I read in the paper about a 19 year old kid who was gunned down on a streetcorner for selling crack on someone else's turf, and i got to thinking how one stupid decision can have such dire consequences not only for the person making the decision, but for every life connected to that person. I went down to my writing area and this song practically jumped out.

    Lyrics
Almost midnight on the losin' side of town
Gettin' colder and the rain is pourin' down
Young man on the corner tryin' to move some crack
Car pulls up he takes a bullet in the back
    (CH) and it's a hard oh it's a hard
it's a hard night for livin'
But it's a good night for the blues

Not too far away a girl sits all alone
Waitin' for her man to bring the money home
Baby's cryin' but there isn't any more
She doesn't know he'll never come back through that door
    (CH)
    Bridge
    Bad luck and trouble
    They'll find you anywhere
    Don't matter who you are
    They don't seem to care
Rich or poor Black or White
    Blues gonna find somebody tonight

Telephone is ringin' a mother takes the call
Stares at her young boy's picture on the wall
She drops the phone and the tears start to fall
She can hear the sirens echo down the hall
    (CH)
