    Story Behind the Song
The earliest version of this song was called "Cards on the Bus" and was written in the 1970s. I updated it in the late 1980s to be a love song for my wife.

    Lyrics
I never believed in love at first sight,
But on you I got a great big crush.
You seemed so sweet and you seemed so right,
    My heart turned into mush.
It was really hard to keep my cool, I tried to keep it under control
I didn't want to come off like a fool, but in my heart I had a goal
    For there to be ...

    (chorus)
    Just the two of us.
Feelin' peaceful and feelin' no fuss.
One thing I know is true.
I know I gotta be with you.

In time my heart calmed down and Ithought of you as just a friend.
I chased women around and around and I thought my search would never end.
We got together in our own special way and it started off just as friends.
But as we went walking day after day, we discovered a special blend.
    And it was called ...
    (chorus)

So I looked you in the eye and said,
    "Hey, won't you marry me?"
You know that we should be wed.
That's the way it should be.

It's been years since we tied the knot.
And we've had two great little boys.
There's never ever been a second thought,
Each day brings brand new joys.
I still remember when I first saw your face and I looked into those deep blue eyes.
We came together by God's own grace and our eyes look up to the skies.
    And we see ...

    (chorus)
