Story Behind the Song
I have loved this song for years and finally decided to record it. A number of years ago, I was part of a presentation to the Daughters of the Republic of Texas as the MacGregors held a ceremony in commemoration of John McGregor, the Piper who died along with the other heroes of The Alamo in San Antonio, Texas. At the end of that ceremony, our own piper played this song: it is forever associated in my mind with that day, and with John McGregor ... the Green Hills of ... Bexar ...
