Acoustic song with a few overdubs. It's a very emotional subject matter for me, so check out the lyrics.

    Story Behind the Song
The song's about this girl I used to know, and how I felt about her just after meeting her. It's the first song in a compilation disc about the year or two I knew her. All the other songs from the disc are by popular artists (most prominently, the Doors). The song was easy to record, though the solo took a few takes and nearly drove me nuts. I'm still not happy with the vocal melody.
Keep in mind that my recording software's cheap (the shareware version of goldwave).

    Lyrics
    You were there all along
    only now you've appeared
    under my nose
    all my wated tears.

    I now look forward
    to the commonplace
    the unbearable is helped
    by your smiling face

    (Chorus)
    But you're my steeping stone
    That's all I can see
    My stepping Stone
    that's what's wrong with me

    Thank God the weekend's over
    back to the daily grind
This is what I live for
    A friend by my side

    Now I wouldn't say I love you
    That would be a stretch
You're not the type I had in mind
    Not my ideal catch

    (Chorus)

    (Solo)

    For one I feel
I'm free to speak my mind
If you think I'm foolish, crazy
    you keep it hidden inside

    Dark Sarcasm, Pointless Rants
You take it all in stride
    A laugh, a smile
You make it all seem wise

    (Chorus twice)
