    Story Behind the Song
This song expresses some enlightened thoughts I've had about life and what we're meant to do on this planet. Knowing that we're all connected and all part of the same thing, letting my light shine in a sense lets your light shine. And, vice versa. We're normally so scared of what other people think that we don't want our light and love to shine out. Why? Let it out! You inspire me when you do that!

    Shine

    Verse 1
Each of us has a gift to share.
You have one whether or not you're aware.
Your job in life is find within yourself
the center of your creativity and true wealth.

Like unfolding of the petals of a flower
you start to uncover the source of your power.
When you peel back all of the layers of fear
you see a part of you that you always knew was near.

    Chorus
    Shine
    to all the world now.
    Shine
you got to show us how.
    Shine
you light will set me free.
    Shine
Shine your light on me. (you got to shine.)

    Verse 2
I'm not talking about light from up above
but the kind you feel when you're in love.
The light we need comes from you and me.
It's what we've struggled our whole lives to see.

It's as if we've locked it away
for fear of what other people might say.
Yet, this is the very thing that we long for
exposing the light that exists at our core.

    Chorus

    Bridge
You may not see the reason to open up.
You did it before and once was enough.
But to heal all the sadness and hate
you got to share the love before it's too late.
