Story Behind the Song
Sean wrote this song several years ago when Y2K was still the biggest topic at the water cooler. Two years later, the song's lyrics still ring true... perhaps even more so now.
Lyrics
End of the Century
Words and music © 2001 Sean Rainer
Not so very long ago,
the stars came down and the moon hung low
And all the people gathered around to see.
And I remember not way back,
the music was loud and the crowd was packed
And all the people gathered around to see.
Everybody knew of it but not everybody cared,
But all that matters baby is we were there.
CHORUS:
I was born mid 70's and now it's the end of the century
and I'm not the boy I used to be anymore.
Some days I'm a pillar of strength,
some days I'm not so sure,
And I confess that there’s more less than more.
But every night’s a celebration
every day is a new song
And all in all I think we knew it all along.
CHORUS
Thought I knew my right from wrong,
now I'm singing a different song,
Maybe I knew that all along, all along.
Everybody knew of it but not everybody cared,
But all that matters baby is we were there.
I was born mid 70's
I was born mid 70's
And now it’s the end of the century
