Story Behind the Song
Sometimes one realizes the apathy that surrounds and entraps him/her. Often we try to re-live glories and times that are long gone and that not only leaves us frustrated and with a sense of sorrow and loss, but it also renders us powerless, apathetic, and without ambition. This song encourages the casting off of these chains of apathy and discouragement as a means of self-reformation.
Lyrics
Walking On Ashes
I've been one hell of an actor,
I've been one hell of a man,
When I see you walking backwards,
Well that's something I cannot stand.
Comfort in the familiar,
Ambition left on the floor,
Where is your motivation?
Perhaps you need something more.
And I feel like I'm walking on ashes,
And I know the end's coming soon,
And when you keep dragging me backwards,
I know it's true. . .
Oh --- my --- God.
How 'bout a little confusion?
How 'bout a social disease?
Blind eyes can see your delusion,
Touched with the greatest of ease.
Heartache and boredom become you,
Wretched and hopeless as well,
Don't need no flames and damnation,
When you've created this hell.
