Story Behind the Song
A song about loss and redemption at the hands of a trusted friend. The song was written for a person very close to me who was going through a very difficult time in his life.
It was written in one sitting, and only slightly changed later to better accomodate the full band.
Lyrics
I saw the devil in your face, reminded me of those days, when we stood.
The paintings came down off the walls, the demons took the un pure souls, and we closed.
Laser lights of childhood days, tabletops of past gone plays, have gone.
Ray guns of the empty gods, Staring at the vacant sun, out of love.
Could you be the one that I call friend?
Will you be the one there standing at the end?
When we know of a land so far away from here.
Then we will know the waiting time of year...
Pacing round my unclear thoughts, thinking of those jaded walks, when we had heart.
Picking up the telephone, listening to the engine moan, I'm gone.
Ringing crashing smashing down, coming down above the clouds, I am one.
Looking through all the albums, thinking back to where I came from.
Could you be the one that I call friend?
Will you be the one there standing at the end
When we knew of a land so far away from here.
Then we will know the waiting time of year…..
Come with me to the place…
Way out in outer space…
Come with me, leave them here,
They're all gone...
When we know of a land so far away from here,
Then we will know the waiting time of year…
When we know of a land so far away from here,
Then we will know the waiting time of year...
