Featured on "TALK OF THE NATION" ~ National Public Radio & Public Radio International with *Mark Jenkins* ~ A WAY-OFF-Broadway Pop anthem, based on highly emotive vocals. The track lacks guitar, but has stellar sax leads by Don Stapleson. ~ Not the final album mix ... still, the lyrics, musicianship and vocal melody carry it. ~ Listen and see! | MP3.com CD: XYRA ... Story Behind the Song
When Doug Empie began a jam session, based loosely on a debauched version of 'Comfortably Numb,' it evolved into what we have here. Bret Empie composed a bridge - on the spot - and Xyra, an entire melody line with lyrics she scrawled on a piece of paper, while belting them, simultaneously.
The final product became a Near-Broadway Pop tune, conversely expressing deep, emotional meaning.
Lyrics
Up from the streets,
Out of the darkness...
You are my beacon,
In the Night and Day
In the twilight, you are the treasure I find...
You take my demons away...
Always, and in every way
Chorus:
Only, only
You always will be one with me
Only, only
You always will be one with me
________________________________BREAK
Repeat chorus...
Up from the streets,
Out of the darkness...
You are my beacon,
In the Night and Day
In the twilight, you are the treasure I find...
You take my demons away...
Always, and in every way
Chorus:
Only, only
You always will be one with me
Only, only
You always will be one with me
Repeat... last two lines of chorus, at end
