A highly compelling song saga and uniquely fascinating historical view of events not totally unknown. Intricate and ellusive like the Eagles song Hotel California but spiritually deeper and more timeless like Kashmir by Led Zepplin. However, this song provides a rather brilliant hope and an adventurous path -- all through the exploration and discovery of the past.

    Story Behind the Song
I've always felt songs could be about more than human love and romance. In many ways I thought those were over-rated and overdone. This song had been rattling around in my brain for many, many years -- actually many centuries. And I only recently remembered enough parts to make it into a song. It was quite an adventure to get every lyric to fit just right. And I hope it might inspire others to write more adventurous songs -- songs that reveal more of the past and also more of the future.

    Lyrics
I was drifting through the sands
    Near the Great Euprhates
Where a fallen angel etched a book in stone
    He was trying real hard
To do the deeds of his master
    Who passed on the remnants
    Of a long lost throne

I pushed my way to the edge of his kingdom
And saw a happy slave slice a brick to small
And that was all she wrote
    For that fallen angel
As the dreams of Babylon began to fall

I gazed up at the skies in the heart of Egypt
    Where a bright golden craft
    Flew across the night
When out from the dark came a searing laser
    And that bright golden craft
    Disappeard from sight

But down neath the tomb of a dieing pharoah
A teenage priest stashed his favorite tome
    And there went the records
    Of the long lost ages
Along with the futures of Greece and Rome

    Bridge

Well there's a lot of hidden history
In the books that were stashed away
And a tone of answered mysteries
That are not well known today

    Chorus

    There are answers to discover
    There are answers to explore
There are answers to be known by Man
And one heck of a whole lot more

I raced to the shores of the salty Dead Sea
    And watched the mystics
    Hide their scrolls in caves
When someone lit the fires of the Holy Spirit
And unleashed a truth about a state of grace

    And there sprang some souls
    With godlike powers
And there spoke some saints in many tongues
But they never wrote their Word
    Upon the heart of Rome
For the men of God were busy getting hung

    Bridge and Chorus

I stood at the library north of Cairo
And gazed on the shelves of a million books
A wealth of history and a wealth of knowledge
Waiting for a leader with an honest look

    But sailing fast towards
    The mouth of the Nile
The legions of ferocious envy yearned
    They crammed their fires
    Down the throat of Egypt
As Alexandria was sacked and burned

    Bridge and Chorus
