Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song in my studio one day at a time when I was longing for someone to share time with. This song was later helpful in helping me find that person. It is a difficult song to sing, and my voice is marginal anyway, so I'm hoping that someone will rerecord this song someday... maybe Art Garfunkel ! (I can wish can't I ?)
Lyrics
"A Month of Sundays"
(C)2001, J. Eshleman, II BMI
Today I awakened, with a song stuck in my mind,
It wasn't familiar, and it didn't seem to rhyme,
But seasons are changing, and this clearly is a sign,
Maybe we should make that change that we often speak about,
Find a reason to toss all our clothes in the car and take it out,
Drive to the mountains, and we'll spend a night or two,
And head for that old shop, that sells kites and nice balloons,
We'll eat at that restaraunt, that was made for me and you,
(chorus)
I've been waiting for a long time, you've been waiting such a long time,
Every day that we wait, we fall behind,
A month of Sundays is on my mind...
Remember the orchard, where we always used to go,
And pick all the apples, til our basket's overflowed,
And sit by the fire, making pastry out of dough,
Maybe I'm just a dreamer and I've seen a cloud or two,
But I need to leave today and just spend some time with you...
We'll go up the river, to the falls that noone knows,
And swim in the water, that was made from fallen snow,
And laugh in the sunshine, like we did so long ago (to chorus)
(after solo)
Maybe there comes a time when we just need to get away,
Let's take what we have and just go crazy for a day,
We'll drive to ocean, by the bay we used to love,
And take out the ferry, to the islands by the bluff,
And stay in the lighthouse, making love 'til morning comes... (chorus)
