Story Behind the Song
Songs come in a variety of ways. This one just kind of fell out...in about 15 minutes.
I had a small room at my shop set aside for music and wrote it one morning in November 2000. A couple of months ago, I was able to piece together my first Digital Audio Workstation. This is one of the first I recorded. Most of the initial work was done in about 4 hours, with small revisions made, one at a time, over a period of several weeks.
Though this song is a Christian song, it is also about the process of learning the truth of anything.
Lyrics
refrain:
Now that I know, Where could I run,
A river won't flow, Back where it's from,
There's just one path, the river will take,
Sometimes fast, Sometimes a lake,
Now that I know, Let Your river flow.
verse1
Every time, a lesson learned,
Moving my heart, a new concern,
Changing my needs, changing my plea,
A little more from You
A little less from me.
verse2
Your holy face, Your beckoning hand,
Bidding me, a new concern,
Trading the safety, on the shore,
For a tumbling stream
Of fear and joy.
