A simple ballad about how a Mom can shape a life... and then be gone before you know it |

Story Behind the Song
My Mom died this year after a brief bout with Cancer. It came out of nowhere... and four months after she was diagnosed, she was gone...
She was a major influence in my life, as I would guess so many mothers are for their children. This song is a tribute to her, but a universal song for all Moms.
It went through about three lyric rewrites before the final version...Although the major part of the song, as well as the tune are essentially from the first take
Lyrics
My Mom
Verse
She was the first girl I ever loved
I Still remember her perfume
That scent was heaven scent and it meant
Happiness would fill the room.
He love was unconditional
She had the sweetest kiss
My empty heart is hurting cause I miss
Chorus
My Mom, she was a beacon in my life
My Mom, warm as an August summer night
She was always in my corner
No matter what went on
But the good Lord called her home
And now she's gone
And I can't believe how mcuh I miss My Mom
Verse
I had my disappointments
But she stood by my side
She's say, that's ok, there'll be another day
I'm proud because you tried
Her love was undeniable
She had the softest touch
I've never needed anyone this much
Chorus
My Mom, she was a beacon in my life
My Mom, warm as a summer Agust night
She was always in my corner
No matter what went on
But the good Lord called her home
And now she's gone
And I can't believe
How much I miss My Mom
Bridge
As I was working hard to make my dreams
become reality
It never even crossed my mind
She wouldn't be with me
Chorus
My Mom, she was a beacon in my life
My Mom, warm as a summer August night
She was always in my corner
No matter what went on
But the good Lord called her home
And now she's gone
And I can't believe how much I miss you Mom
