	Story Behind the Song Sam wrote this song way back when. Story has it that Sam hitch-hiked with a truck driver and survived an almost terrible accident after losing the brakes of the rig. Fortunately, the truck driver saved the rig and themselves by crashing the vehicle into an designated emergency area. Afterwards Sam replied, "It's not the depth of the well or the length of the rope, it's how you swing the bucket!" Those words inspired him to write this song.
