"Superman Yet?" | genre: Rock | |

Ska influenced song, similar in sound to Sublime and Van Morrison, that reflects on what we thought we would be when we were children compared to where we are now. |
CD: Four Songs
Label: Self Released
Credits: Thanks to Jay Love for his work on the drums and Kenny Barnes on Bass, both members of our band BOUND. Special thanks to Jon Best at Muddy Creek Audio in Virginia Beach, Virginia for his help recording, mixing and mastering the entire album. |
Story Behind the Song
The motivation for this song was simply the realization that I, nor most people I know, have become all the things we imagined we would be when we "grow up". It came rather quickly, and I was able to write the lyrics in about a week. The recording went well on this song, as we were able to get most of it done in just one take. It was recorded at Muddy Creek Audio in Virginia Beach, Virginia by Jon Best along with three other tracks for our first album, appropriately titled "Four Songs".
Lyrics
SUPERMAN YET? -- And I remember way back in the day Everything was so cut and dry All day long we'd play and dream of how we'd set the world on fire
You were bound for fame greater than Madonna Maybe be the best ballerina that the world had ever seen Me I was gonna fly a fast jet fighter Maybe be a superhero
like in cartoons and my dreams Am I superman yet? Do you think I can fly? Can I leap tall buildings in a single bound? Can I look at you with my x-ray eyes?
By this point in the game I thought we might just rule the world But reality snuffed out the dreams of a boy and a little girl does it break your heart to think you only made it this far?
Or are you happy -- happy where you are? Am I superman yet? Do you think I can fly? Can I leap tall buildings in a single bound? Can I look at you with my x-ray eyes?
