Lyrics
A few short years we walk this earth, we do the best we can to make an
ordinary life something to remember, so we
plan each day we live from birth and fill it with the things we think
important so we try to make an ordinary lifeā¦
the gift that it was meant to be, we've learned this since the age of three
so how come we forget the simple joys?
We're born, we die, we love, we cry and still it's not enough
we break our backs to strive to fill our ivory towers up with toys.
And in the meantime we lose out, we miss the laughs, we don't come out
to see a starry sky on an ordinary night
and watch the re-runs of our life, "oh what a time that was," we say,
rewinding all the time, trying to recapture all theā¦
days when we were young and free, embracing all that we could see
when dreams were just another possibility.
And summers they all seemed as long as all the fields we played upon,
and left our fate to fortune, left our destiny to chance.
AND WE DANCED, AND WE DANCED
(AND) MADE THE BEST OF AN ORDINARY LIFE
LOOKING OUT ON HORIZONS, PAINTING RAINBOWS, HOLDING HANDS
AND WE DANCED, AND WE DANCED, AND WE DANCED
AND WE KEPT DANCING.
Now I see your loving eyes ready for the other side
about to slip away, an ordinary guy who knew what
life was meant for all its worth, just happy to wake up to see
the sun, the sky, a smile, another ordinary day on earth, and
while the world keeps racing on and I just try to write this song
repressing all the fears of my mortality.
What can I say before you go? A time to reap, a time to sow,
empty words could fill a book, but while we had the chanceā¦
AND WE DANCED, AND WE DANCEDā¦
