Recorded at Islington's "Red Eye" in August 2000, this live performance is captured from a room mic directly above the sound desk. As a result, the first 20seconsds are slightly low quality. But this is about as raw as you can get. This MP3 is exclusive to MP3.com & eesifreek.com
    CD: Not on an album
    Credits: Hingley/Tayler

    Story Behind the Song
No real motivation for writing this one, it was born out of a rehearsal jam.

James started playing the riff, the chorus soon followed - all the while Jamie was frantically scribbling lyrics.

To bring it out & finish it Jamie added the spiralling outro riff and everyone was happy.

    Lyrics
    Work Me Out

Loving you in the wrong way
Time payed the price of nothing interesting at all
Going on so long with souls that slowly fray
Smooth action jabs so your senses will but stall
Change direction, fell on empty words
Flash on cash that don't arrive today
Slip back, not as bad as the first
But help me out as the song begins to play

Working hard to work me out
Simple words left on the side (what was left was not a lie)
Working hard to work me out
    Deafened by the silent cries

Mystified by a new wave of concepts
Flicking paint across a wall (alright)
I don't know sometimes why you wanted me to stay
always asking why I turned a run into a stroll
Mild attraction, looking through the glass
Life's items bought & sold diplomatically
I find myself, not out with the trash
Once nothing was the key that was to set us free

Working hard to work me out
Simple words left on the side (what was left was not a lie)
Working hard to work me out
    Deafened by the silent cries

    (ad-libs to end)
