Story Behind the Song
This song had a strange beginning. I was dreaming while asleep one night in the fall of 1990 and a good friend of mine (who had passed away shortly before) appeared to me in the dream. He told me to write two songs. In the dream I immediately wrote the two songs.
The next morning when I arose I went at once to the piano and worked out the "Samba, Samba!" tune according to the lyrics that were fresh in my mind from the dream. It's mighty strange, but it's a true story.
Lyrics
We do the "Samba, Samba!"
All the day long.
We love the "Samba, Samba!"
It's a happy song!
We play
and the music takes you to another land
Where the band
Beats that rhythm, your feet feel it,
Soon your body's movin' and you're
Dancin' to "Samba, Samba!"
We do the "Samba, Samba!"
All the night long.
We love the "Samba, Samba!"
It's a happy song!
You smile as you dance,
There's a pale moon above.
It's time for romance,
Are you ready for love?
We sing tenderly,
Then desire fills your heart.
And soon you agree,
That you never, never should part.
We do the "Samba, Samba!"
All the night long.
We love the "Samba, Samba!"
It's a happy song!
We play
And the synchopated music casts a spell
you can't tell.
It's the rhythm that gets to you,
soon you want to do it, now you're
Dancin' to "Samba, Samba!"
My dear, I love you so,
I never want to go.
But if we should part,
I'll keep you in my heart.
Forever and a day,
I can hear you say
That you'll always know
Just how you loved me so.
Ah, ah,
Ah, ah, ah,
Ah, ah, ah,
Ah, ah, ah.
La, la, la, la, la.
La, la, la, la, la.
La, la, la, la, la.
La, la, la, la, la, la.
