A very rough demo of a new Western Homes song about the failure of adult life to match up to childhood expectations.
Credits: Singing, producing, writing, acoustic guitar, and harmonica by Western Homes

    Story Behind the Song
This song was written in a Berkeley co-op very late at night (or early in the morning, depending on your perspective) during an unprompted bout of nostalgia. It was quickly recorded live in one take to try and capture the particular emotional vibe which birthed it.

    Lyrics
    When we were young
    We'd brag and boast
    Which one was best
    Which one'd make most
    How we'd hate this place
    How we'd talk for hours
    How we'd see the world
    How we'd make it ours

    Yeah we'd talk for days
    Big words, big ways
    I remember now
    But I'm still amazed
    Now I'm not so close
    On another coast
    And you're south of home
    Feeling so alone

    And to make a pact
    And to not go back
    Spoke of all your goals
    Spoke of all your gold

    Now we're not so young
    And we're not so bold
    Integrity gets harder
    When you get old
    Spoke of all your goals
    How you'd make them true
    It looks like now
    You didn't fucking come through

    And to make a pact
    And to not go back
    Spoke of all your goals
    Spoke of all your gold
