Well, I would call this my apartment song. I just find that living amoung all these people I have never known before to be such an odd arangement. I love this song, I think its a more fun story and kinda touching at the end.

    Story Behind the Song
I was trying out some open tunings with regular chord progressions, and stumbled apon this peice. I got so caught up in the feel, but didn't really know where to take it from there. Then, in the middle of he night, I had a run-in with my neighbour below me who was making so much racket on a Tuesday at like 4 in the morning (I do 98% of my writing at that time of day). I went down and spoke with him, and came back upstairs and just started writing. I didn't do anything with the song for a while, and then my computer crashed and lost EVERYTHING. I of course, had the lyrics saved on the computer, so I lost track of what the song said. Later, after getting a new computer, I sat down and typed out all the lyrics word for word from memory. That was a big indication to me that this song had something special.

    Four Walls Around Us
    Geoff Kennedy
    March 25.2001

The couple upstairs have been fighting since ten
I think that someone finally threw something
The girl's been pretty much sobbing since noon
Baby I, just wish you'd come home soon

The girl downstairs that had the boy last year
Her baby's been home but she's never there
We pass in the hall she has little to say
Baby I, wish you never went to work today

We may have four walls around us
And one roof on our heads
A little place we call our own
    But we don't live alone
Only when you wrap your loving arms around me
Am I ever home sweet home

The old couple next door got the TV cranked up again
And I planned to do today was sleep in
Ethel's screaming bloody murder turn up your hearing aid
Baby I, wish to hear you say anything

    (chorus)

Should I miss you write you call you write you need you baby I just can't decide
I've been teaching myself to swear in french just to pss the time
I heard the snap and clack and scrape as you turned the key
And baby I have never seen you so happy to see me

    (chorus)

    Home sweet home x4
