	One of the hightlights of our visit to Salzburg was hanging out in Mozart's childhood apartment. It was evening, and outside snow was falling, covering the streets. It was very cold, and the warm interior of Mozart's living quarters was a welcome change. The apartment had a dreamy ambience to it, caused in part by the decorative lighting which created a sense of timelessness. Then we saw it: there, encased in glass and suspended by wires was Mozart's violin - the real thing, not a replica. The lights on the display case gave the impression it was floating, making the scene all the more surreal. For several minutes I stood there, transfixed. It was, in many ways, like seeing the holy grail of musical instruments. What a memory.
