	Story Behind the Song [Neil comments] The original idea came from our observations of a man sitting in a park late one evening. Danny and I had been walking and talking about some new songs for our CD when we happened upon this disheveled-looking fellow swatting at fireflies from the bench where he sat. He appeared to be in his early forties. As we watched he got up and walked a few steps and swatted at another one. He saw one light up several feet away and dashed after it. A couple passing by noticed us watching him and commented that he was there every night. We stayed up most of the night talking about that guy and how he ever could have gotten into the sad shape his life was in. Danny recalled the Thoreau quote, "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation." Before that night was over we had a song.
