Danny starts with this reggae/R&B bassline out of nowhere, and next thing we know, we're venturing into a new genre of music. Mick slaps the skins dubstyle and Heath pretends he's Andy Summers. OK, we're white, but we like jammin' too! |

Story Behind the Song
Danny comes to practice, starts noodling around on his newfound instrument and develops this roots-reggae bassline. Heath had some "work-in-progress" lyrics, and Mick was itching to try something with a different flavor, so it just happened. This demo version was a single-take, almost totally live (sans the lead guitar and vocals), done on Heath's trusty 4-track.
Lyrics
Hand Me Down Love
You want my conversation
You’re givin’ me nothing
Nothing but pain
I’ve got my inclination
I’m gonna be walking
Walking away
CHORUS
I have my hesitations
It’s gonna be alright
I’m gonna’ be fine
And with these reservations
Won’t gimme’ affection
Won’t gimme’ no time
CHORUS
SOLO
Just want a confirmation
Gimme’ an answer
Why dontcha’ gimme’ a chance
T’ru all this tribulation
I’m gonna’ be singin’
I’m gonna’ be dancin’
CHORUS
end
CHORUS: IT’S NOT SO BAD
IT’S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD WE KNOW OF
IT’S NOT AS BAD AS YOUR
HAND-ME-DOWN LOVE
2nd/ 3rd CHORUS: IT’S NOT SO BAD
I’VE SEEN THE WORST OF THE THINGS FROM ABOVE
IT’S NOT THE END OF THE WORLD YOU KNOW I’M TIRING OF
I DON’T WANT YOUR HAND-ME-DOWN LOVE
