Story Behind the Song
I had been playing around with a descending chromatic chord pattern for a month or two. I don't think it's been done before. It worked so well, I decided to compose a samba* from it. I dedicate it to Paris Tirone, who helped me with lyrics.
*Actually, it's not a samba. It's a Bossa.
I'll probably rename it "Bossa Parisienne" one day.
Lyrics
Farewell To Paris, (Bossa Parisienne)
Lyrics by Marc Ellis & Paris Tirone
________________________________
Now I say farewell to Paris,
Not farewell to love;
Darling, please don't embarrass us,
What are you thinking of?
One day, I'll return to Paris;
If you like, I'll phone;
Paris is eternal darling;
But it's not my home;
Standing here at Orly Airport,
Waiting for my plane;
Take a taxi home, my love;
There's nothing to be gained;
Let me say farewell to Paris,
And fly away alone;
Paris is eternal, darling;
But it's not my home;
