Story Behind the Song
This song was inspired by one of Lisa's friends, who isn't doing much with his life. Frustrated by this, she wrote this song about him, and the general need for each of us to "jump in--the water's fine." Recorded at Invisible Sound in Baltimore, MD
Lyrics
i remember the way you laughed the day the parade went by,
and when you first found love, and that wonder in your eyes.
Tell me what went wrong between then and now--did life leave you behind?
I don't know just when and how or what goes on in your mind.
you keep hanging 'round poolside, c'mon boy, jump in the water's fine...
don't you know you've really only got one life, so Don't Waste It.
the beautiful things in life are now just memories
and all the music, jokes and friends have faded from your scene.
you think it's a conspiracy and the whole world's after you
finding reasons everywhere but none of them are true.
you keep hanging round poolside, c'mon boy, jump in the water's fine...
don't you know you've really only got one life, so Don't Waste It
yeah, yeah, yeah
so many years have passed you by, like wind through your fingers
now there's no time to linger...
put your feet on the floor, your hand on the door and just go!
you keep hanging 'round poolside
c'mon boy, jump in the water's fine...
don't you know you've really only got one life, so Don't Waste It
yeah, yeah, yeah
don't waste it
yeah, yeah, yeah
Don't Waste It now.
