Moody rock ballad with beautiful vocals and guitar, great melodies. The song expresses the frustration of losing control over one's life, which can happen sometimes, quite unexpectedly. |

Story Behind the Song
Lisa had a dear friend who was fine one day, and dieing the next. He hung on for a year before leaving, and it was heartbreaking and inspiring to watch his strength, and his desire not to give up, even though in the end, that wasn't enough. Beautiful song recorded at Invisible Sound in Baltimore, MD.
Lyrics
I've been down so long, it seems like years
I just wanna get up and out of here.
I got things to do, places to go
got my girl here and she just wants to know
why 10,000 polygraph tests
haven't proved anything yet.
I'm trying
trying
baby, I'm not lying.
I can't pretend that nothing's wrong
my body's weak, my mind is strong.
ain't my fault I'm falling apart
ain't my fault, and I plan a fresh start
I'm trying,
trying
trying to get back to living here
but it's been a long, long day, dear
somehow I got Lost on my way back to you
but you know I didn't mean to and
so much time's been Lost on my way back to you
you know I didn't mean to...
There are times when I look at you and you don't know what to say
except hang in there, you're doing fine and tomorrow's another day
so I close my eyes
and look inside
I'm trying,
trying,
trying to keep from dying here
but it's been a long, long day dear and
somehow I got lost on my way back to you...
so much time's been Lost on my way back to you
you know I didn't mean to...
