Story Behind the Song
I wrote this after attending the 2000 Graffiti Rock Challenge, and noting that people who are trying to be rock stars are less cool than they think.
Lyrics
she's under the lights, adjusting the mics,
stifles a yawn, & then it's alright,
(she) sets up the stage before the band plays
they'll get the door, but she won't get a raise,
she's vaguely in charge, but it's not living large,
Sabrina, you should be a rock star, too,
I see you in a shiny shirt,
yeah I will make a case for you, it doesn't have to hurt,
Sabrina, put yourself on center stage,
and you could be the latest rage,
I would come to hear you any day...
at the monitor board she looks pretty bored,
all the same power chords, she's heard it before,
will she leave town when they shut the club down?
find a new stage to grace, or stick around?
it's not living large, but she's vaguely in charge,
Sabrina, you should be a rock star, too,
I see you in a shiny shirt,
yeah I will make a case for you, 'cause it doesn't have to hurt,
Sabrina, put yourself on center stage,
and you could be the latest rage,
I would come to hear you any day..
