    Story Behind the Song
why the hell did I post this file up? I recently received an e-mail from an old friend who reminded me of this recording:

    ---------------------
A long time ago, we were talking. You were excited because you had just purchased your first sampler. You told me that your dad came to you saying he had something for you to sample. You set up the microphone and he farted into it loudly. Laughing, you said, "and it was a perfect A."

I remember later you gave me a tape of a piece you had composed using just that sample. It was a little hard to follow the melody, but I recall a strong oom-pah beat, an atonal tuba ensemble. It's possible that that was the last piece of music of yours I heard before today. While that piece had a certain charm, you've definately achieved a much more sophisticated sound over the years.

    Play on!
    Your old pal,
    Alex
    ------------------

I would hate to have posterity look upon my father as the man with perfect pitched flatulence.

He had a great sense of humor and when I was fooling around with my old Ensoniq Mirage Sampler, He grabbed the mic and broke wind. I then arranged this little piece with the 8 bit sampled flatulence. It carries a strong 220 Hz pitch and I was astonished.

My Father, John, passed away on April 12, 1992. He was a great man and I miss him dearly.

You can thank him for everything you hear on this page because he always encouraged me to pursue my interests in electronics and computers and sometimes the music.
