Story Behind the Song
The wise old men seem to never get their due, as the new ideas push their ways aside. This song remembers the wisdom of age.
This song was written at Surf Ranch Studio when it was in the basement of a house on Earl Drive. We had just put sleeping bags up on the walls where the drums were recorded and noticed the sound being muffled badly so we removed a few and got these drum sounds.
Lyrics
Don't Forget Me
Michael P. Meindl, Richard S. Brumley - Lyrics
There lives a tiny man with white hair
He tells a story, a sad one they say
Everybody gathers round and listens to the old man
What was he saying?
DON'T FORGET ME, CAUSE I CAN'T FORGET YOU TOO LONG
DON'T FORGET ME, CAUSE I WON'T FORGET YOU TOO LONG
Wait your turn see my ambition burn
Went around simply to ask her
Just what she thought?
But all I got was stammer stutter
She just stuttered
DON'T FORGET ME, CAUSE I CAN'T FORGET YOU TOO LONG
DON'T FORGET ME, CAUSE I WON'T FORGET YOU TOO LONG, TOO LONG,
DON'T FORGET ME
NO, DON'T FORGET ME
NO, NO, NO
NO, DON'T FORGET ME
NO, DON'T FORGET ME
