'One light. all lamps are we... Dust to dusk, mite or mighty, the root of tree...' Dangerous, unseen spirits loom through the night ... while elements of nature breathe and fly through darkened skies. More a soft Prog Rock number, perhaps, albeit the sinister minor notes seem to prevail. Gallant flutes do battle with dark, taunting electric guitars. In the end, the truth conquers all, as light emanates from within each living being.

    Story Behind the Song
This was an instant poem that grew into a song, within the same hour. I have no explanation, other than that. The subject matter is best addressed in 'Song Description,' above.

I will say that it took shape, during the first 7-piece rehearsal we ever had. No one had heard the song, prior to that, expect Andrew Cann. I introduced it to the others, accompanying myself on acoustic guitar. The others chimed in on piano, percussion, bass, and cello, and the song, soon thereafter, seemed to take on a life of its own.

Note: Eric Ulreich has since added absolutely riveting guitar solos, and the piece has picked up intensity quite a bit. For those reasons, we hope to re-record it, possibly within the year.

    Lyrics
    Subtlety clothes the inner-most power
    One light – delicate flower
Wanton spirits rise -- those despised
    Meet their maker,
Find all light is for the taker . . .

    Chorus:

Warm sun on beaches that are no more
Soft moon shining on living fur
    Primitive fate tempts Excalibur
Eyes of night, creatures in flight
Life, as we know it becomes a blur

One light – all lamps are we
Dusk to dust, mite or mighty, the root of tree
    Ancient incubus, for shame,
    Inherits inverted ecstasy

    Chorus:

Warm sun on beaches that are no more
Soft moon shining on living fur
    Primitive fate tempts Excalibur
Eyes of night, creatures in flight
Life as we know it, becomes a blur . . .

One light – all lamps are we
Dust to dusk, mite or mighty, the root of tree
    Ancient incubus, for shame,
    Inherits inverted ecstasy . . .

One light – all lamps are we
Dust to dusk, mite or mighty, the root of tree

    One light are we!
