Storytelling lyrics preceeded by a "cocktail hour" intro and surrounded by the ever growing alt-Country sound. Compared to Barenaked ladies meets John Prine. This song has taken on a life of it's own here on MP3.com... Thanks for supporting the song and us!!!
Following is a review by an MP3.com listener:
***Review By Kevin Burdick*** I wasn't very familiar with Alternative Country before I heard The Justin Brothers, but I have to admit that I kind of like it. It has some of the elements of country, however, its more rhythmic and less twangy. The Justin Brothers remind me a bit of the BareNaked Ladies. Their music tells a story, as you might guess by the title. The lead singer has a strong voice and the harmonies are pretty tight. Its a unique style that makes for good drivin' music! |

Lyrics
Travelin' south around Newport Beach
I pass a car goin' down Second Street
The girl inside is crying
Like she'll never see that someone again
I think, she shouldn't be driving, I should mind my own business
She glances at me, then she's lights in the distance
My freeze frame image
Of a girl who thinks her world's at an end
What's your story?
What brought you here?
What are the circumstances that created the tears?
We've all got our tales
Got our woes
Ain't that how the story goes
I'm hittin the town, h ittin' the bar
I'm slammin' the shots down pretty hard
The guy next to me
Figures I'm a bit down on my luck
We get to talkin', the tables turn
He's told me more than I care to learn
Seems his wife got everything
But the cowboy didn't mention the truck
Chorus
I'll sing you a ballad of adversity
Stop me if you've heard it - or it's a little too close to your biography
I see humans being, I create the scene
And try to fill in all the lines between
Speculating the two dating
Enjoy each other's company
I t keeps me busy, keeps me entertained
In this dot com world, it's a use for the brain
Fully aware that someone might be scripting me
