Extended Ambient Mix of Protect And Survive Featuring Guitar work by Martin Saunders. Takes the Original to a higher realm
CD: Protect & Survive EP   Label: polyp
Credits: Nicholas Fellows & Martin Saunders

    Story Behind the Song
An absolutely stunning track this. The original Protect & Survive was up on Pootertoonz but got lost when one of servers I was using went down. However, during an ICQ chat
with Martin Saunders, he mentioned that he and Polyp had finished their collaboration and that the track was practically ready for release.

The original Polyp track always was a pretty cool ambient piece of music but Martin Saunders' inspired guitar playing has lifted it to a totally different level.

You simply must hear this track, it's a fairly large download but, believe me, it is well worth it.

Here's what Martin Saunders told me about the track...

PolyP mentioned that he liked one of my guitar pieces called 'Dreams" and wondered if I could lay some guitar down on one of his songs...

I heard his Protect and Survive and immediately could hear the guitar for it so he sent it to me as an MP3 encoded at 256kb, I converted it to WAV and loaded it into Cool Edit
Pro. I 'miked' up my Fender Twin and off I went... I had the guitar done in about 30 minutes and Mixed down to 2 tracks again... The guitar transformed quite well onto the
computer, I was a bit dubious at the start as quite often the guitar can turn out quite 'synthetic' , but overall I think it turned out well.

And here's what Polyp has to say...

Some time ago, I got chatting with Martin Saunders , I liked the style of some of his tracks and somehow felt were on the same musical/emotional wavelength, after some
discussion I decided to ask him if he would be into doing a collaborative work. I chucked him a piece I was working on and was hoping it would get fired back, nothing really
    came of it....

Then one day we were chatting again and Martin told me that he was interested in doing some guitar work over the ambient version of Protect & Survive ( a bit difficult when
you think he lives in Ireland and I live in Britain!) But hey, in these internet times distance is irrelevant ... I was slightly reluctant at first, Protect & Survive is one of my
    cherished pieces ...

Anyhow I agreed and Martin got to work, a few days later when I heard the results I was smiling from cheek to cheek the combination was astonishing, the guitar really
added to the track, lifting it up to a higher realm...

I really need to put all 5 versions on a CD and have a nice little Protect & Survive EP
this song is an all time classic... download it now.
