The title track of Ross Mullins new CD is an interpretation of a poem by Robin Hyde, the pen name of Iris Wilkinson, a tragic figure in New Zealand literature who committed suicide in 1939 aged 33. Hyde's poetry was largely sidelined during her lifetime by the male dominated literary scene and is only now being fully appreciated for its powerful and original imagery. Tidemarks is sung with great sensitivity by Caitlin Smith whose father edited one of Hyde's prose works.
