    Story Behind the Song
HAH! Finally I'm able to present Deep Space uncut - the former upload had to be cut in half die to mp3.com's size restriction. The equipment at that point still was really minimalistic (I just had started to use keyboards and a sequencer, and I bought my first FX-processor). But the track itself turned out really well - even if you compare it to newer arrangements. Lets do a quick walktrough:

00:00 Yes, this is *exactly* what it sounds like. At the time I did this track I just heard about a new Star Trek series supposed to play on a space station Deep Space ... somthing.... ;) 00:15 Here the main theme is introduced. A sitar, some harps and a glass-organ lead the way. After this introduction theres a slight change at 02:05 - percussions, marimba sounds, a sequenced loop, a spaced oud lead tune at 04:55... All this rises to a first final at about 07:30. The tune then slowly vanishes to make place for a monotone bass at 08:30... The mood changes, theres strange distorted percussions, a twisted piano sound... Turmoil... Now there's a soothing part: 00:00 A silent and smooth background carpet floating us past a piano melody... At 02:10 the part is getting a bit heavyer, adding more volume to it. At 04:10 theres a reprise of the main theme. A big organ joins in at 06:30 to lead over into the next part, probaply a bit inspired by Bachs Toccata (yet not as glorious without a question... ;). Next change at 09:00 - organs fading and a fast, synthesized part starts... This one now reminds me a little bit of the general tone on Jarres Magnetic Fields... Thats the percussion, I think... At 11:00 that ones replaced by a slapped bassloop and some sakuhashi - theme. A *tiny* bit new waveish (even though thats a bit late in 91). The new part at 13:20 is a bit ... spooky ... Think of dark forests at night, fog, a haunted house... finally, at 15:30 the main theme comes back for the last time to finish this beautifull tune... :)
