Story Behind the Song
In late May of this year I attended a very special Spring gathering of brothers and sisters at the camp of the Sugar Creek Band of the SeCCI Cherokee.
The Sugar Creek camp is a sacred place. My biggest flute, Awohali Ugidali, painted the trees with its song during morning devotional and the hills sang back with gladness. The Golden Eagle bird flute, Sedi Gansda, especially loved Sugar Creek and the bubbling water gifted it with a song which sprang from my morning playing on its banks.
And, this is that song!
CHEROKEE AT SUGAR CREEK is presented as a
tribute to Sugar Creek and the Band that loves it.
