	Story Behind the Song Tommy and Jeff sat down to write a tune to see if they could still come up with something after 14 years of not writing together. The original working title was "Big Brother is Watching Me and You" after Tommy's feathers were slightly ruffled by the lack of privacy we seem to face. After coming up with a great riff and song format, neither Tommy nor Jeff could come up with a lyric. In frustration, Jeff told his wife Nancy that writing lyrics to this song was impossible. Nancy paused for a moment and started to go out the door to run an errand, stopped in her tracks and simply said "John Lennon is watching me and you". After that moment of clarity, the lyrics came easily. Lyrics The lyrics combine song titles and lyrical references to John's work both as a Beatle and solo artist.
