Story Behind the Song
I wrote the lyrics to this while listening to
Laurie Anderson's "Example #22."
Lyrics
this guy beside the freeway was
kneeling, gently swaying. he's calling, "oh, my tinies!"
he looks as if he's praying. my only precious baby, my
girl, my lovely lady, don't save me. don't mistake me.
don't try to drive me crazy. and if my life escapes me,
from trying to act foreign, reduce me. derogate me. tell
me I'm getting boring. my crying, aching lover, my one
without the other, don't hear me. don't come near me.
don't make me make you fear me. this guy beside the
freeway was kneeling, gently swaying. he's calling, "oh,
my tinies!" he looks as if he's praying. my lonely,
freezing girlfriend you birthday gift, you godsend, don't
smile. don't be appealing. don't ask me how I'm feeling.
