    Story Behind the Song
I originally wrote this at the age of 17 while watching the sunrise, after being up all night. I had been thinking (as we all sometimes do) about the girl I'd just broken up with for the 5th or 6th time. Over a decade later, I drug this tune out while an old friend (Jeff Pike of A1A fame)and I were sharing songs. He offered some additional lyrics and with his arranging, took me for my first trip into a studio" We recorded it in two days. It seemed that almost half the time was spent with myself trying to get through one vocal passage at the end of the break. Jeff had a lot of patience, but my ego tells me I think he liked what he heard. I hope you do to!

    Lyrics
    Sitting here watching the Sunrise
    In the early morning dawn
Thinking darlin' you've got to realize
    Some morning
You're gonna wake up and I'll be gone

    There's much about life I don't understand
and things I've got to do on my own
Sometimes now, I wake with the feeling
I'm a long long way from home
    (chorus)
Now don't let it stop you from dreaming
    and don't stop singing along
But before you can make it with someone else
    You've got to learn
to make it on your own

    Watching the clouds go by
    They'r driftin' away
    I may follow them tomorrow
But I'm here with you today

I don't want to see you crying
Never want to leave you that way
So just remember the good times darlin'
    and listen when I say
    (repeat chorus)
I may be walkin' through the pouring rain
And though you may not be with me
We'll never find the dreams we're searching for
    Until we set them free
    (repeat chorus)
You've almost got to make it on your own
