Story Behind the Song
Composition on the poem 'Lyric Kitchen' from the poem cycle 'Pierrot Lunaire' - by Albert Giraud.
Lyrics
Lyric Kitchen
The Moon, a yellow omelet,
Beaten with large eggs of gold,
At the far end of the black azure goes to sleep,
And in the panes reflects itself.
Pierrot, in his white garb,
Unlucky, on the roof, close to the edge,
The moon, a yellow omelet,
Beaten with large eggs of gold.
Wrinkled like an over-ripe apple,
Pierrot agitates wildly
A skillet, and, with an abrupt effort,
Believes to launch it into the sky, which spangles
The Moon, a yellow omelet.
